Welcome to the first post in my Unicorn Sensory Play series! I will be sharing lots of magical, sparkly, beautiful unicorn themed sensory play ideas over the next few weeks. Starting with these easy and absolutely stunning Magical Unicorn Explosions!
After compiling my 30-day Activity Pack, I was inspired to create these magical unicorn explosions. Willow has been loving all the sensory play we’ve been trying lately, so I wanted to create something truly magical for her to enjoy. These did not disappoint!
What you will need
- White vinegar
- Baking soda
- Iridescent glitter (I used two sizes)
- Food coloring (I used ‘neon’ food coloring in purple, pink, blue and green)
- Squeezie bottles
- A spoon
- Cups to make the explosions in. (I used small party cups)
How to make Magical Unicorn Explosions
Step one: Fill your squeezie bottles 1/3 of the way with vinegar.
Step two: Add the food coloring of your choice. We used pink, purple, and a mix of green and blue to get a nice turquoise color.
Step three: Add a small spoonful of baking soda into your cups.
Step four: Add a teaspoon of glitter to your baking soda.
Step five: Let your little one squeeze the colored vinegar into the cups of baking soda, and admire the beautiful bubbly, sparkly explosion it creates!
Try mixing the colors for a beautiful effect.
After all the baking soda had been activated, Willow had fun mixing the colors and making a mess!
I hope you enjoyed the first installment of the Unicorn Sensory Play series. Let me know if you tried this in the comments below 🙂 Have a magical, sparkly day!
